Building Blocks of the Diving Life

The building blocks are the core courses that take you from a novice to a highly capable diver capable of looking after your self and indeed looking out for others. Before we emabark on waxing lyrical about the fun and enjoyment of diving, it is worth covering a few key points. Scuba Diving is fun, a wonderful experience and it is a really safe sport ONLY if you get good instruction, use good sites and well maintained equipment. That said - you also need to practice your skills and keep them current. It does still though have risks. This must be taken seriously and you must be 100% truthful about the medical and liability release declarations, if not you are only fooling yourself, putting yourself to potentially lethal harm, let alone all the trauma and harm casused to all if sadly things go wrong. Don't - as this is a really great sport and it can be very safe...

You need to be fit and healthy and you need to be able to lift between 15Kg and 35Kg of equipmrent on your back/waist safely without harm, injury or strain.. If you are unsure of these wisely put points then be sure to check with your GP or a Sport/HSE Medical Referee.

Now the minimum age for the following programmes is 10 for the junior open water and junior adventure diver and 12 for the junior advanced open water and junior rescue diver. All these courses become 'fully fledged' at the age of 15. These minimum ages are just that a minimum. It will be our judgement and our judgement alone as to our acceptance of anyone that young doing a snorkling or scuba diving experience. Many facilities are keen to reset this minimum age to 12 and we totally understand and support their logic for such. We are fully (100% of all staff - see home page) Enhanced CRB checked and do offer to teach children - however we must put safety first and we must be sure that the children are themselves capable of handling the equipment and enjoying the fun of diving safely.

We try to make all our diving and snorkling experiences fun and really enjoyable, indeed memorable. We go for small teams that are a maximum of 4 students to 1 instructor (subject to age), and we build up the experiences and teams by sticking with this number. So if we have 12 students we will have 3 individual teams of 4 students each with there own instructor each run as a seperate course....
