Technical Training

Technical Diving is the Ultimate level of diving and requires due dilligence in kit preparation, planning and logistics that very carefully looks at every risk in the dive and plans for potentially needed corrective action.

It in many respects about being self sufficient and confident (not arrogant nor maverick), about diving beyond conventional limits. I'm often ask why do you do such extreme depths. I always say that i don't always - I'm not a depth junkie! In fact pushing the limits is not always safe nor sound. You must dive with a purpose, a goal and that must be to explore, enjoy, not just gain a depth reading. I really love exploring deep wrecks, the solice and grace these have, and indeed in a surreal way they are majestic monuments of some sad history and more often historic events.

We totally respect these sites and their unique history. We try and offer understanding and indeed find many wrecks for the first time since they left the watery edge they once graced their presence with. For us the many fantastic Cavenrs and Caves offer fantastic insights into our geology of our planet and we take many skills from such an environment (along with huge respect), to be able to perform safe exploration of huge wrecks well below conventional Scuba limits.

We strongly believe that what makes a good technical diver is a real understanding of themself, their own fault, shortcomings and foibles. I have heard so many instructors use the words ATTITUDE that's what technical divers need, well yes but that is both positive and negative and too simplistic a noun. Often this continues the bravardo and macho attitudes which are so wrong. Technical Diving is open to all that are fit, healthy, sharp minded and self aware individuals. Like the changes in the UK Military for Bomb Diosposal (post 1980's), this end of the sport is not for the Medal hungry, Point Scoring sort - well it is if you want an early grave. This level of diving is HARD and it is not for everyone though. You are a long way from home and you do have to deal with virtually every problem in water, hence the real need for being sharp minded and self aware. Yes you will be taking Risks, yes you will have planned for the issues that surround those risks - but you will not be wreckless in your mindset nor approach. Andrew Dawson-Maddocks has put together a growing wealth of Tech Tips which is in our Library on this site. You need to get very good instruction, the instructors need to have a great wealth of experience, you must take great care not to pick up bad habits and folk law guidance - if you do then the results may become perilous for you - watch this short video and see what bad advice and training these divers got and how lucky they were to be alive today - CO2 rebreather incident. Don't be fooled that Open Circuit has less hazards at the Technical Level...

We pride ourselves on giving you a deep understanding of the environment, physiology, physics, equipment and skills to undertake this level of the sport and enjoy it for many years to come. We will not be dogmatic and say you must do this our way. In fact that is so wrong an approach it begs total disbelief when I see it so often. What works for my body shape, flexibility and reach, many not work for you. We will teach you to think. We will teach you to do "what if" analysis and really look at your skills and mindset. We will sort out all those little bad habits you have put into your diving and modify them so they are not unsafe bear traps - and above all we will ensure you really do have a culture of planning your dives and then diving them - oh no debate on that one. Oh and all the training will be done in the Sea and either our class rooms or another suitable venue near the dive site. We will plan judicious use of inland sites as back-up if weather precludes the use of the sea, however we would strongly recommend that the dives are rescheduled rather than use an inland site for this level of diving.

What we can't teach yet, we would recommend you seriously take a look at two of Europe's Leading Technical Instructor Trainers and highly experienced instructors, Martin Robson and Cedric Verdier. Martin teaches throughout the UK, Florida and France - a leading pioneer in Advance Cave Diving and is one of the worlds most qualified instructor Trainers. Cedric teaches throughout Europe & South-East Asia and can offer you stunning training to take your technical diving even further. Take a look at our 25 Technical Courses and then decide...

We are so proud to be associated with IANTD, arguably the father of all technical training and a progressive training agency that is with out a doubt a real accolade to be able to get through it's tough instructor development programmes to offer their Training Programmes at end of the sport. IANTD has developed and enjoyed the majority of the leading edge pioneers, explorers and educators of our time. Likewise we are proud to be able to offer soon BSAC and DSAT Technical Training to enable you to continue to grow and develop within your current framework of training agency. Why not take a look at the training you have to date and see which programme and agency is best suited for your next step. With a 100% Safety Record both technically and recreationally both in water with students and on other work and pleasure related diving. We a are proud to also say not a single member of staff has had or suffered any minor or serious Bend/DCS. We pride ourself by being thorough and safe in our dive planning, conduct and strudent pre and post dive practices. We operate a very safe set of projects that still push and develope you - but not hurt nor harm you or us - that's the plan. We have an experience base that is verifiable, logged and stunning. At this level be 100% sure of your instructor - your life depends upon it - don't just look for the top of the industry either - look for someone actuially doing what you want, lots of it and not just teaching it... Look for small course numbers as well as full compliance with the HSE diving codes of practice that don't use you as both in water safety/support diver as well as being the student - that's so wrong on so many levels, think about it... See our Special Offers and Discounts Page too....

We offer a very comprehensive set of training which we have grouped into these key areas:
