Benefits of Argon

We will put the information on shortly...

  • Often used for suit inflation... although this only works if you get rid of all the air in the suit (think about it a little like loft insulation - remove 25% of the insulation [=air left in suit] then you loose nearly all the house heat not just 25%) - Although little impact is seen using this gas it does strike me that as the skin beathes and it is vital it is allowed to breathe - putting all the skin (for argument sake) in a hypoxic mix is to my mind not good. It must be said the evidence in terms of dives done with Argon has shown the above concern doesn't seem to be warranted ? We have yet to find conclusive research on the use of Argon / hypoxic suit infaltion gases. Conversly I also haven't seen much to those of you now thinking about that last point on the effects of high PO2 mixes or hyperoxic effects on the skin.
  • Dangerous to use as a deco gas (eg Argox) as it is highly/dangerously narcotic at 6m...
  • I'll do the Argon data like the Helium page...
