The Diving Almanac 2008 is pitched to be as good as this years. A great reference source of who's who and lots about every aspect of diving as both a sport and a career. It also lists a compendium of diving stores, facilities, charters and service providers across the world - a must have publication.

Martin Edge another highly respected photographer has  done a lot of workshops helping people readily produce stunning pictures and effects is our wonderful and diverse under water world.

His third edition of The Underwater Photographer (Digital Techniques) is a stunning work and well written - a must read for all 392 pages.

Ned Middleton has written a very interesting book on The Wrecks of the Egyptian Red Sea (160 pages).

This is a gem for all those Thistlegorm fans as her picture adhorns the front cover and is quite rightly a prominent feature of the hard back book.

Bernie Chowdhury tells of a friend and his son's last dive. The Rouses were seeking to explore and uncover a U boat wreck in 70m of water a long way out of New York.

The price for this exploration and haste was sadly the ultimate one. This story is told by their close friend Bernie Chowdhury (357 pages) who looks at this and the powerful psychological dynamic of the father and son relationship under such extreme conditions. If you are a wreck monkey this is a book you wont put down.

Mark Ellyatt demonstrates his larger than life persona in this book from cover to cover. As a great explorer he has pushed not only technical diving to it limits but also that of air diving despite such controvacy of such.

That said this is 340 pages that are worth reading and admirring the work and exploits of Mark.

Martin Farr is a ledgend in the caving community and has such a nice style and persona given his leading position as not only a noteworthy explorer but a leading caving and cevern instructor in the UK. His latest work is a masterpiece of research and presentation on the history of cave diving.

This recounts not only his work and that of many of his friends and peers. Martin and Helen regularly run training and his website is well worth a visit.
