Which Regs and Why ?
This is a very good question and one that a lot of debate can be had on... You'll get a lot of views on this subject...
Let's straighten out one key bit, if your looking to teach Technical Diving then you will need a Reg that is CE rated to the depths that you will be teaching at, few are CE rated below 60msw.
Let's also straighten out suitability for use and again CE rated for the gas supply so Pure O2 use, Nitrox, Trimix or Heliair and Air. Helium is a loverly gas medium, however it is very very active and small and will lift valve seats and creep out etc etc.
Now for Technical Diving I would at this time only use Apex and Poseidon. Poseidon have invested very heavily and CE rated some of their products down to 200msw. Again if you are teaching be very careful to get and use equipment that is fit for purpose and designed and rated for the job and gases you intend to use them for. Likrewise for the shallower dives and stages Apex (along with many others) have done sterling work to become CE approved and highly reliable with the use of Oxygen, Nitrox and other deco mixes.
So what you use recreationally for yourself may not be OK for teaching with and according to the HSE Regulations in force in the UK.
I have a MR22/Abyss Reg set - very nice set of Regs and great recreationally - however for the above reasons these Regs can't be used Technically for Teaching.
The real answer is Poseidon are the business for the whole range of Technical Diving and Technical Teaching. This Swedish company was not long taken over and is still going from strength to strength - it's continental European Offices provide a stunning 2nd line support to all retailers.
